从事病毒感染的致病机制与防治技术研究，主要包括人类免疫缺陷病毒（HIV）和汉坦病毒（HV）等多种病毒的感染与免疫机制研究、人类重要病毒性传染病（HFRS、AIDS等）的分子流行病学研究、抗病毒药物研究（流感病毒、疱疹病毒、柯萨奇病毒、呼吸道合胞病毒、轮状病毒、EV71、汉坦病毒等常见病毒）。

一直从事本科生和研究生的教学工作，现承担的教学任务有全校通识课 (艾滋病防治、性传播疾病与青春期健康)、本科生必修课（组织与功能、实验室安全）以及研究生通开课（实验室生物安全、高级分子与细胞生物学、生物医学技术、临床微生物学等）。
